As part of the 33rd Open Ski Festival “Sport for All,” held at Kopaonik, Serbia, from March 18 to 22, 2026, the regular meeting of the Board of the Balkan Association of Workers’ Sport (BAWS) took place.
The session was chaired by BAWS President Mr. Branko Vujović and attended by representatives of member countries including Bulgaria, Romania, Montenegro, North Macedonia, and Serbia. Delegates from partner organizations in Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina were also present and were officially admitted as full members of the Association during the meeting.
The central focus of the session was the continued development of partnership networks and the strengthening of regional influence. In his report, President Vujović highlighted that intensified international activities have led to growing interest from related organizations across the region.
During the meeting, the BAWS Board unanimously approved the admission of three new full members: Academy of Healthy Living (Pula, Croatia), Sports Union of Slovenia (Slovenia) and
Sport for All Association in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Representatives of the new member organizations were ceremonially presented with BAWS banners, symbolically marking the beginning of joint efforts to promote health and sporting values among employees throughout the Balkans.
During the working session, the updated 2026 Events Calendar was adopted, enriched with proposals from the new members, opening up new opportunities for sports and recreational activities across the region.
Additionally, the date and venue for the Regular Electoral Assembly of BAWS were confirmed. Upon the proposal of Vice President Desislava Yagodin, it was decided that the Assembly will be held in Albena, Bulgaria, within the framework of the 22nd International Sports Festival, from June 17 to 21, 2026.
Following the successful working session, the BAWS President invited all Board members to attend the official opening ceremony of the 33rd Open Ski Festival at Kopaonik, once again highlighting the importance of this event for the Balkan sports community.
